Classes are 3 hours in length with a combination of lecture and skills stations!
We ask that all live animals be left at home. Courses are taught with stuffed animals for the skills portion. Please bring your own stuffed animal to class, we will have a few extras to share!

Pet Safety Pocket Guides covering all course material.
Pet First Aid Starter Kit.
Skills Practice materials for each student.
2-Year Pet First Aid and CPR Certification with ongoing training for new and current evidence based veterinary medicine updates.

MEET JANIS
All Courses are taught by our
Head Pack Leader and Founder, Janis Sandlin!
Janis has completed decades of training in Human Emergency Medical Care with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Colorado in 2007, a Masters of Medical Science in Physician Associate Studies from Yale University School of Medicine in 2010, and 10+ years in clinical practice as a Physician Assistant in Trauma, Emergency Medicine, Acute Care Surgery, and Critical Care Medicine.
Janis holds active certifications in human Basic Life Support and CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, and now proudly teaches Pet First Aid and CPR Certification courses after completing the Sunny Dog / Pet Safety Crusader Pet First Aid & CPCR Instructor Certification Course in August 2021!
When choosing the right Pet First Aid and CPR Instructor Certification Course, you can imagine we were pretty picky! We researched dozens of programs both online and in person, but none had the depth of individual and one-on-one training and teaching as the Sunny-Dog Ink Program with Denis Fleck. This extensive 10-week program dives deep into all of the possible urgent and emergent situation our pets can encounter and goes over each individual action step for each situation. Janis completed this course in August of 2021 and keeps up to date with the most pertinent and evidence-based changes in the Pet First Aid and CPR world with Sunny-Dog Ink and we love sharing this knowledge with our local pet lovers here in Oregon!

Denise Fleck, Owner of Sunny-Dog Ink and Pet Safety Crusader, is an award-winning author and animal care instructor who developed the curriculum for her
Pet First-Aid & CPCR Classes after training with dozens of schools and organizations, practicing, attending seminars and practicing some more.
Denise has accomplished so many wonderful things and her credentials are quite impressive!
She has assisted with development of U.S. Homeland Security’s Training Program for K9 Handlers and is
certified in CPR: Basic & Advanced Life Support by the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care, Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine.
Before developing her own curriculum, Denise trained with the Humane Society of the United States, Animal Humane Association, American Safety & Health Institute, Red Cross, e-training for dogs, Business & Industry Council for Emergency Planning and Preparedness, Noah’s Wish and FEMA, and has personally taught more than 25,000 animal lovers (pet parents, trainers, vet techs, groomers, dog day care providers, cat hotel operators, rescue volunteers, etc.) animal life-saving skills!

If we cannot reschedule, we offer 50% refund if cancelled prior to 7 days before the scheduled course. Unfortunately, if cancelled within 7 days prior to scheduled course we cannot offer a refund.
